Aravina was the wife of Garel, one of the heirs of the Rivan Line, and the mother of Gelane. Algarian by birth, she met Garel when they were both teenagers and fell deeply in love, as is common in the Rivan Line. They spent most of their adult lives in the Stronghold, where Polgara intended for them to remain safe during the Angarak invasion.
Unfortunately, Garel died in a riding accident, and despite the best efforts of Polgara and Garel's mother Adara, Aravina fell into a deep depression from which she never fully recovered.
